Leona Cochrane Story

This is the first of hopefully many, of earrings for charity requests I have recieved, I would like to thank Doris for taking the time to write to me in May and I apologize it took me this long to respond and send out her mothers earrings. I tired to find butterflys to include in the design because of the meaning behind them to your mom. I Hope she likes them and I hope you both are doing well! - Amanda
The Letter:
My name is Doris Bachmann,
I am nominating my mother, Leona, for an offering of jewelry to help keep her cheered up and to encourage her positive outlook.
My mother, who lived in
Nova Scotia for 28 years, moved here to Richmond Hill , Ontario almost two years ago. Us three children had been asking her to move here to Ontario ever since our stepfather, who was born in Nova Scotia , passed away (eight years ago). You see, mom had been diagnosed with Leukemia in 1998 and after several different treatments which were unsuccessful, she had her spleen removed in 1990 as a last effort to combat this disease. My stepfather was there every-step-of-the-way and as a result of my stepfather’s TLC plus my mother’s positive outlook, she has been in remission ever since. Over the years she developed a blockage in her main artery of her neck and doctors won’t operate until necessary (90% blockage) due to the risk involved in the operation. Shortly after she moved here to Ontario she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Part of her colon was removed last March and the physician is pleased with her recovery and the lack of any existing cancer cells.
My mom told me it was a
butterfly (yellow swordtail) which presented itself to her and came as a sign from God; the message she interpreted was to finally let go and move here to Ontario . I can’t imaging how I could have coped with her being ill in
Nova Scotia while I was here in Ontario unable to help her and take care of her. I am so thankful to God for providing her with a sign.
There is so much she could be negative about like the little amount of income she receives from her pension, and the past illness she has had to endure as well as the diabetes she is now coping with. She could complain about the aches and pains a woman of 79 years old feels and how she needs to get around using a walker — but she doesn’t.
She walks 4kms almost every day — or more and always has a smile and a hug for everyone. She is the happiest, most content and friendly person I know. She’s a real trooper!

Free Custom Jewelry FAQ
Q: Is this real?
A: Yes, I am giving away jewelry at no cost, not even a shipping fee.
Q: Why give your jewelry away?
A: I like making jewelry. Somewhat simple reasoning. Also I like designing what I like. Orders based on others likes can get old.
Q:What do I need to give?
A: A photo of the jewelry after recieved and being worn is appreciated but definetly not necessary.
